Quote saying, 'Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed, it means the damage no longer controls your life.'

—Akshay Dubey

Trauma is more than a painful memory, it’s the lasting impact it leaves on how you see yourself and the world around you.

It can come from childhood neglect, toxic relationships, sudden life changes, or distressing events that left you feeling unsafe or powerless. Even years later, trauma can show up in your thoughts, emotions, and body keeping you stuck in cycles of overthinking, anxiety, or self-doubt. The good news? Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Trauma doesn’t always look like a clear memory of a single event. Sometimes it shows up in subtle ways, like:

  • Constant overthinking or spiraling thoughts.

  • Struggling to trust yourself or others.

  • Feeling disconnected from who you are or where you want to be.

  • Emotional triggers that come out of nowhere.

  • A sense of being stuck, even when you’ve tried to move forward.

These experiences can feel overwhelming, but they don’t define you. With the right support, you can break free from old patterns and step into a calmer, more confident version of yourself.

Trauma & EMDR Therapy in California

What is trauma?

How it Shows up in your Life:

Why EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a proven therapy that helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they no longer hold power over your present. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with your nervous system to help you feel relief, clarity, and peace.

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy:

In our sessions, I’ll guide you through a series of structured steps designed to reprocess traumatic memories. Here’s what that might look like:

  • Identify the memories, thoughts, or emotions that keep you feeling stuck.

  • Use guided eye movements or other techniques to safely process those experiences.

  • Gradually reduce the emotional intensity tied to past events so they feel less overwhelming.

  • Build confidence in your ability to trust yourself and move forward.

The goal isn’t to relive every detail of your trauma — it’s to feel safe, supported, and in control as you put the past where it belongs.

“Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, & untreated cause of human suffering.”

― Magan Danielle Norton
